Why the hell is this forum here?
There are plenty of story forums one can post a submission
on, in the hopes of receiving a compliment or two.
This is not one of those sites.
The objective is for a budding author to have a place to
put his or her work 'out there', have it critiqued, decide
what may or may not apply, and then try again. (editing
and all the other unsavory tasks associated with writing)
Reviewers: keep in mind that nearly everyone here will
have a weak spot in their writing, perhaps more than one.
Pointing one out and making a suggestion in regards to
it, is acceptable. Ridicule or insults, is not.
Writers: It is important to note that your story will not
appeal to everyone - even well established and successful
authors have their following, with others passing on their
offerings. I strongly recommend taking a review in stride,
positive or not, without taking it personally. I also suggest
not defending your work too aggressively. A reviewer has
taken the time to write a review - arguing against the points
made in said review leads to less people willing to review.
It becomes a vicious circle.
The only way to become a successful writer, in my opinion,
is by writing frequently, and fearlessly, paying attention to
any needed adjustments as you come across them.
I wish you all the best. Now, get writing!
